How to Repair My Electric Scooter

Table of Contents

No electronic product can run forever, there will always be various problems and electric scooters are no exception.

In this article, I’m going to cover some of the most common problems with AJOOSOS electric scooters and how to fix them.

Electric Scooter Not Charging

  • Check that you are using the correct charger. The adapted voltage of the charger must match your local voltage. The voltage of the charger matches the voltage of your scooter. Check the label on the charger for specific parameters. Using the wrong charger is one of the reasons why the battery will not charge.
  • Plug the charger into the motorized scooter and an electrical outlet. The indicator light should be red. If it is green it means that the charging is complete or it is not charging.
  • Check if the charging port is burned out. The charging port may be burned out in case of improper operation.
  • Check that the scooter can be turned on. If the scooter does not work and the meter screen does not light up, the battery may be bad.
  • Check for battery leak. Over-using or over-charging your electric scooter may cause the battery to develop a leak, this is why the battery doesn’t charge.

electric scooter runs slowly

  • Checking the speed gears
  • If it’s a dual-wheel drive scooter, check to make sure the dual-wheel drive mode is turned on.
  • Check if the battery level is above 60%
  • Rule out temperature, load, etc. Problems too low or too much load can slow down an electric scooter. This is normal and does not need to be repaired.
  • Check the motor, try pivoting the wheel by hand to see if it’s stuck.

Short travel distance

  • Check the battery level. There are times when the battery format shown on the screen is not accurate. We can press the power button to cut the data displayed at the bottom of the screen. One of the data shows the voltage of the battery. By using the voltage we can determine how much power is left in the battery.
  • Rule out temperature, load, and slope. Cold temperatures or too much load can cause a electric scooter to slow down. This is normal and does not need to be repaired.
  • Check the motor, try pivoting the wheel by hand to see if it’s stuck.
  • It’s important to note that the faster the scooter goes, the shorter the distance it ends up traveling, but not by much.

Brakes are too sensitive or too loose

The strength of the brakes can be adjusted by the LCD.
Pressing and holding both buttons on the display at the same time allows you to access the P settings. Select the appropriate value in the P09 setting. 0 off, 1 weak, 2 strong

Routine care & maintenance

Cleaning & storage

If you find a stain on the scooter body, wipe it off with a damp cloth. If the stain cannot be wiped off, apply toothpaste, scrub with a toothbrush, and then wipe it off with a damp cloth.

Note: Do not use alcohol, gasoline, kerosene or other corrosive and volatile chemical solvents to clean the scooter to avoid serious damage.

Do not use a high-pressure water gun to clean the scooter. During the cleaning process, make sure the scooter is turned off, the charging cable is unplugged, and the rubber stopper is closed, as water leakage may lead to electric shock or other major problems. Do not leave it outside for a long time.

Excessive sunlight, overheating and overcooling will accelerate the life of the battery pack.

Battery maintenance

  • Please use the original battery pack, using other models or brands of battery packs may cause safety problems;
  • Do not touch the contacts. Do not disassemble or puncture the casing. Keep the contacts away from metal objects to prevent short-circuiting leading to battery damage or even injury;
  • Use the original power adapter to avoid potential damage or fire;
    Incorrect disposal of used batteries may cause great harm to the environment.
  • To protect the natural environment, please observe local regulations for proper disposal of used batteries.
  • Fully charge the battery after each use to extend its life.

Storage & Disposal

  • Please store the scooter in a cool, dry place between 14° and 104°. In extremely humid environments, condensation or even standing water may form inside the scooter, which can quickly damage the battery. Prolonged exposure to UV rays, rain and the elements may damage the case material, store indoors when not in use.
  • In daily use, try to avoid charging the battery after it has been completely depleted. If the battery is low, charge it as soon as possible.
  • Please charge the scooter every other month to protect the battery.

Maintenance of the electric scooter is extremely important to both your convenience and safety while riding, and performing preventative maintenance (such as keeping your scooter clean) will reduce the number of repairs needed in the future and make your electric scooter commuting experience more enjoyable!
